Job Description
Objective of the Job:
This position is a liaison between the customer and the mill. This position is focused on Electrical Steels and responsible for explaining customer expectations to the mill as well as mill capabilities to the customer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and "where applicable" Responsible Steel requirements are followed.
2) Provide technical, products and quality assurance support for electrical OEM stamping facilities.
3) Ability to influence customer's willingness to trail product / process improvements.
4) Facilitate technical exchange meetings to promote understanding of electrical steels.
5) Work with cross function team to develop new materials and refine existing grades / process.
6) Manage outside processor quality and held inventory issues for assigned customers.
7) Provide mill operations with a thorough understanding of customer products and expectations.
8) Provide technical review and part-set up for new parts in IOM.
9) Responsible for identifying and communication product quality and customer satisfaction concerns to mill operations.
10) Provide resolution for customer product quality and customer satisfaction concerns.
11) Document customer negative, neutral and positive comments in Customer Feedback Reporting.
12) Be accountable for assigned customer base growth in accordance with profit and loss goals including internal/external rejects and non-prime generation.
13) Remain current on all relevant products, technology, customer and industry requirements and trends. Participate in industry groups and associations.
14) Perform all duties in the spirit of company culture and in accordance to legal, ethical and contractual practices. Qualifications:
1) Four-year technical degree and minimum of three years' relevant work experience in technical service related fields; relevant work experience in electricals steels is a plus. Or, minimum of seven years' relevant technical service industry work experience.
2) Thorough understanding of steel processes, melting, rolling and finishing of electrical steel products.
3) Knowledge of electrical steel specific applications and downstream processing.
4) Understanding of current market issues and trends as it related to the electrical steel industry.
5) Understanding of competitor's relative strengths and weakness.
6) Excellent written and oral communication skills; MS Office and presentation skills.
7) Effectively interpret financial information to make sound business decisions.
8) Demonstrated ability to proactively and positively accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously.
9) Ability to work in a self-directed fashion, drive, initiative, self-starter.
10) Effectively work with others in a collaborative environment and drive results.
11) Additional languages a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position requires a flexible schedule. Hours could include overtime, nights and weekends as well as travel with little or no advance notice. This position requires the ability to work in hot/cold manufacturing environments. Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others.
