Job Description

Sonoran Science Academy is an A-rated, STEM-focused public charter school in Tucson, AZ and part of the Sonoran Schools network, a leader in K-12 STEM education since 2001. We are a professional community built on collaboration, high expectations, and a genuine commitment to student growth.

We have an opening for a 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, in-person position. We are looking for a passionate, student-centered educator who brings engaging instruction to life and is excited to help students build a strong foundation for middle school.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction using hands-on and inquiry-based approaches.
  • Design differentiated lessons that support all learners including English Learners and students receiving ESS services.
  • Use data to drive instruction, track student progress, and implement intervention strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families and maintain high expectations for every learner.
  • Create a structured, positive classroom culture focused on problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with teammates and school leadership to support shared academic goals.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the broader school community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Arizona Department of Education Certification preferred. AEPA/NES equivalent accepted.
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required prior to start date.
  • Minimum 3 years of elementary teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong instructional skills with experience at the upper elementary level.
  • Passion for education and student development.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional development.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary range is $55,000 to $62,750 per year based on education and experience.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage with employer contributions.
