Position Title: Behavioral Health Coach / BHC

Location: Glendale, AZ

Work Environment: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – Adolescent Behavioral Health

Salary / Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience

Hours & Schedule:

Candidates will be assigned one consistent schedule from the options below:

  • Monday – Thursday, 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Coach (BHC) provides direct support and guidance to adolescents participating in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This role serves as a key member of the treatment team by fostering positive therapeutic relationships, supporting treatment goals through daily coaching and engagement, facilitating therapeutic activities, and maintaining a safe and structured environment. The Behavioral Health Coach helps bridge the gap between clinical treatment plans and real-world application while promoting personal growth, accountability, and recovery.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build trust-based relationships with adolescent participants and provide consistent support throughout their treatment experience
  • Reinforce treatment goals through daily coaching, engagement, and therapeutic interactions
  • Lead and co-facilitate groups, recreational activities, and community meetings
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and motivational interviewing strategies to support participant safety and engagement
  • Monitor participant behavior and provide appropriate interventions when necessary
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, nursing staff, supervisors, and educational team members
  • Accurately document behavioral observations, interventions, and participant progress within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive treatment environment
  • Support participants in developing healthy coping skills, communication strategies, and personal accountability
  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols

Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in behavioral health, psychology, social services, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience in behavioral health, youth services, education, counseling, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents preferred or willingness to complete adolescent-focused training
  • Current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Reliable transportation to the assigned facility
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work the assigned schedule consistently
