Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Process instrumentation and equipment used in the operating room according to manufacturers' recommendations and hospital policy and procedure.
- Apply the principles of universal precautions and asepsis to provide optimum, safe patient care.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments in accordance with manufacturer requirements, universal sterilization guidelines and organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain instrumentation in working order.
- Generate, collect, possess, and communicate information effectively within the scope of the role of a central supply partner.
- Report collected data accurately and completely relating to the biological and quality testing of sterilization equipment.
- Identify emergent and urgent situations and use sound judgement in instituting established procedures and correct situations in a calm and efficient manner.
- Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements
- Minimum: High school diploma
- Preferred: Provisional certified, certified central sterile training/education
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: Four hundred (400) hours in surgical setting
