Design Engineer

OverviewThe Design Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development of mechanical products, leading designs from initial concept through production release. This role operates in a fast-paced environment with accelerated product development cycles and requires strong technical execution, organization, and time management.Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products from concept through prototyping and production release*
• Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software*
• Generate and manage all required technical documentation, including:*
  • Bills of Materials (BOMs)* *
  • Assembly and weldment drawings* *
  • Installation instructions* *
  • Manufacturing support documentation (e.g., fixtures)*
• Collaborate closely with project and manufacturing engineers to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability*
• Support prototype builds, testing, and iterative design improvements*
• Ensure accuracy, organization, and version control of engineering documentation within PDM systems*
• Balance multiple concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment (typical cycles ? 6 months)

Product & Technical Scope

• Mechanical systems and structures for equipment and vehicle accessories*
• Designs involving materials such as:*
  • Sheet metal* *
  • Formed tubing* *
  • Glass* *
  • Thermoformed plastics*
• Strong emphasis on design for manufacturability (DFM), especially with sheet metal components

QualificationsEducation

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Experience

• 5+ years of experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings*
• Experience with PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM Professional preferred)*
• Hands-on experience designing with sheet metal and tubular structures preferred

Skills & Competencies

• Strong proficiency in CAD design and product documentation*
• Experience with surface modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) preferred*
• High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills*
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive timelines*
• Strong collaboration skills across engineering and manufacturing teams*
• Self-driven with the ability to work effectively under pressure
