Direct Care Professional
POSITION OVERVIEW:
A Direct Care Professional (DCP) cares for individuals diagnosed with having developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. The main duties of the DCP includes but not limited to helping members complete basic housekeeping tasks, transporting patients to/from scheduled appointments or other social outings, and keeping patients safe from potential health hazards in their surrounding environment. This position requires one year of experience in the healthcare field.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECATIONS:
Direct Care Professionals are expected to work with individuals with stated disabilities by supporting them by teaching, enhancing independence, intro-independent living skills, self-care skills, cooking meals and doing laundry. Additional duties expectations may include:
· Assisting members with daily personal tasks which may include bathing and dressing.
· Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, washing dishes, and cleaning common areas of the home.
· Transporting members to organized arranged appointments.
· Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific members’ dietary needs.
· Medication Management.
· Budgeting and Receipt reconciliation.
· Ensure member confidentiality.
· Be present and awake during scheduled shift.
· Charting Shift Notes and Medications.
· Provide continuous supervision of members when in a community setting in-sight supervision is REQUIRED.
· Be IN UNIFORM. (Matching scrubs are required)
