Job Description

Trex Company, the world's number one decking and railing brand, and leader in high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to coordinate and direct safety-related activities at the Fernley manufacturing and poly operations sites.

Help us deliver what's next in outdoor living by managing technician resources to meet yearly plan objectives, while maintaining a positive team environment.

As our next Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator, you are a skilled leader with strong communication and organizational skills who will work to keep safety awareness high and ensure all employees are aware that safety is the company's number one priority.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a safe workplace. Keep safety awareness high and assure that all employees are aware that safety is the company's number one priority. Work with manufacturing EHS Manager to ensure that the site operations are compliant with all accepted safety practices.
  • Develop and promote best practice safety programs through employee training, safety team activities, managing industry safe program audits and data, and incident investigation and tracking. Work to improve safety performance at all times.
  • Maintain all required safety training records and ensure compliance with all OSHA-required record-keeping.
  • Work to maintain good employee morale and manage employee welfare events.
  • Meet yearly manufacturing plan objectives in the areas of environmental, health and safety.
  • Support all other site activities as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager.

Experience, Education:

  • A degree from an accredited college or university, plus two years relevant EHS experience is required.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a high school diploma or GED and five-or-more years in an EHS-related position will be considered.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities in a self-directed team manufacturing environment.

  • Communicating (Verbal & Written): Listens attentively and expresses ideas clearly and concisely. Shares relevant information in a timely and effective manner. Is available to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect.
  • Technical Knowledge: Does well in functional or technical courses; learns new industry, company, product, functional, or technical knowledge; and maintains a network of internal and external contacts.
