Grant Project Specialist
Organization: Arizona Department of Veterans' ServicesLocation: Phoenix, AZSchedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PMWork Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote; candidate may choose their in-office days)
Arizona Department of Veterans' Services is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Grant Project Specialist to support the administration of grants, contracts, and community-based funding programs that benefit veterans and their families throughout Arizona.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Grants Coordinator Senior, the Grant Project Specialist supports the management of grant-funded programs and community-based grant awards. This position is responsible for reviewing applications for compliance, coordinating approvals and denials, monitoring grant activities, and providing administrative and technical support for programs related to mental health, suicide prevention, employment, trauma treatment, and other veteran services.
This role also works collaboratively with agency staff and community partners to identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with the needs of Arizona veterans.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review Veterans Donation Fund (VDF) applications for completeness and compliance
- Present compliant applications to the review committee
- Process grant funding approvals and denials
- Support administration of grants, contracts, and grant-funded programs
- Monitor compliance and provide oversight of funded programs
- Coordinate complex projects and maintain accurate records
- Assist with technical support and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with agency staff and community partners to identify grant opportunities
- Support programs focused on suicide prevention, mental health, substance abuse, employment, and trauma treatment
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of administrative experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience reviewing documents for compliance is preferred
