General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Interim High School Chemistry/Computer Science Teacher is a full-time, one-semester faculty member responsible for delivering high-quality, Christ-centered instruction in Chemistry and introductory Computer Science to high school students. The teacher will provide daily classroom instruction, maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, assess student progress, and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrators to support students’ spiritual, academic, and personal growth. This role serves as a temporary but integral member of the GCA faculty, ensuring continuity of learning and excellence during the semester of service.
Essential Job Requirements:Instructional Delivery
- Plan and teach engaging, standards-based Chemistry and Computer Science lessons for high school students.
- Deliver clear, organized instruction that supports diverse learners and reflects strong content knowledge in both subject areas.
- Integrate Biblical worldview connections naturally into lessons, modeling and reinforcing Christ-centered thinking.
- Incorporate hands-on laboratory experiences (for Chemistry) and project-based learning (for Computer Science) aligned with safety and curriculum guidelines.
- Use technology purposefully to enhance instruction and engagement.
Assessment and Feedback
- Create, administer, and grade assessments that measure student mastery of course objectives.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, labs, and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to students and parents.
- Adapt instruction and support as needed to meet the needs of individual learners.
Classroom Management
- Foster a positive, respectful, Christ-honoring classroom culture.
- Maintain clear expectations for student behavior, participation, and academic effort.
- Ensure a safe and well-managed laboratory environment following required safety protocols.
- Communicate consistently with students about deadlines, responsibilities, and course expectations.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with department teammates, administrators, and support staff.
- Participate in required meetings, professional development, and school functions.
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and community standards.
- Support school events, spiritual life programs, and community-building opportunities as needed.
Spiritual Requirements
- A clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and evidence of a lifestyle that reflects biblical integrity.
- Active membership in a local church.
- Wholehearted support of the mission, leadership, and values of Grace Christian Academy and Grace Baptist Church.
- Passion for investing in students academically, spiritually, and relationally within a Christian school environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Computer Science, Education, or a related field (required).
- ACSI Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in teaching Chemistry labs and/or Computer Science coursework strongly preferred.
- Experience in Christian education is highly valued.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and learning management systems.
Computer Software / Technical Skills
- Ability to produce well-designed documents using Google Workspace.
- Basic proficiency with spreadsheets (e.g., Google Sheets) including simple formulas.
- Familiarity with school learning platforms (e.g., FACTS/RenWeb, Google Classroom).
- Comfort with introductory coding environments or platforms used in high school computer science.
