Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC on a full-time basis.

The Role

GM Motorsports competes at the highest levels of global racing, supporting programs across NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, WEC, and Formula 1. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled CAD Engineer to join our elite engineering team.

In this role, you will design and develop race car components and systems across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through production and trackside application. You will create and refine advanced designs, leverage finite element analysis (FEA) to optimize performance, and contribute to cross-functional design reviews to ensure technical

excellence.

This position offers the opportunity to directly impact on-track performance, with occasional involvement supporting end users and customers post-delivery to ensure components meet the highest standards of reliability and performance in demanding race environments.

What You'll Do

  • Apply advanced CAD expertise and analytical problem-solving skills to design high-performance components

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with race program teams, maintaining a strong customer-focused mindset

  • Actively share knowledge and learn from peers in a fast-paced, dynamic motorsports environment

What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience designing components within automotive, motorsports, aerospace, or a related industry

  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, 3DX, SolidWorks) and FEA software (e.g., HyperMesh, Abaqus)

  • Strong understanding of component design, material selection, and manufacturing processes

  • Experience with both solid and surface modeling techniques

  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues

  • Passion for motorsports and a strong drive to contribute to team performance

  • Foundational knowledge of vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
