Summary:

Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm- Inpatient (but will also provide Outpatient, weekend & holiday coverage)- 2 yrs OT experience required

Additional Information:

Performs occupational therapy evaluations, interventions, documentation and billing processes according to established procedures for routine and complex cases. Proficient with a specialty practice area or skill. Knowledge is shared through clinical teaching of new team members and occupational therapy interns. Participates in program development, education and maintenance functions of the department. Developing a specialty skill set. Serves independently in at least one specialty clinic.

Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT), Occupational Therapist (OT) License- Arkansas State Medical Board

Recommended Certifications:

Board Certification in Pediatrics- American Occupational Therapy Associate (AOTA), Certified Brain Injury Specialist- Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialist-(ACBIS)

Description

  1. Reviews information from all sources (chart, team report, patient evaluation, etc.) prior to initiating treatment and completes a comprehensive therapy evaluation appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patient to identify skilled therapy needs.

  2. Proficient knowledge for obtaining and interpreting information to formulate an individualized treatment plan. Understands the range of treatment appropriate to the diagnosis or developmental stage. Able to recognize the impact of diagnosis or injury on the lifespan trajectory. Demonstrates clinical strong clinical knowledge and professional skills through mentoring team members, advanced self-study and specialized continuing education activities. Incorporates evidence based practice into treatment.

  3. Establishes relevant measurable goals and plan of care appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.

  4. Instructs and explains prescribed treatment to parents and/or patients. Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

  5. Proficient with implementing the treatment plan using appropriate modalities, monitors and modifies the plan of care as appropriate, and documents findings of patient progress according to established polices and procedures. Seeks consultation as necessary.

  6. Maintains a positive attitude while demonstrating the adaptability necessary to effectively respond to changing departmental needs.

  7. Completes work efficiently by meeting productivity standards and administrative expectations (quality initiatives, annual eval, time off). Enters treatment charges in a timely manner and without discrepancy.

  8. Demonstrates initiative and flexibility to ensure that all patient care for the occupational therapy section is completed daily. Sets high standard of excellence; takes responsibility for outcomes; ensures high quality.

  9. Contributes to departmental maintenance functions, program development and quality improvement initiatives pertinent to the needs of the department.

  10. Compliance and strong proficiency of knowledge and implementation of specific patient treatment protocols and departmental policies and procedures. Passes competency reviews. Participates in policy review.

  11. Communicates information and ideas clearly and concisely in a manner that is not offensive and helps others understand and retain the message; actively listens to others.

12.Collaborates and works cooperatively with others to help the team/group achieve goals, contributes, asks for help, and models commitment. Provides in-services following educational programs. Serves as a clinical instructor for entry level students and preceptor for new team members.

  1. Develops relationships necessary to meet and exceed patient needs, holds self and others accountable for providing a positive patient experience, uses appropriate interpersonal techniques to develop relationships and resolve difficult situations. Maintains others' self-esteem and seeks to understand needs.
