General Overview of Position:

Arcxis is seeking Mechanical designers and engineers with a wide range of experience who are skilled primarily in single-family detached Residential HVAC design and Engineering. This includes performing Manual J, S, D HVAC design, as well as designing duct layouts in AutoCAD by integrating with our in-house frame designs in accordance with ACCA and IRC standards. Mechanical Designers and Engineers collaborate and partner across all disciplines to ensure the highest level of cross-disciplined design integration for a one stop shop solution to our partners residential design needs.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Job duties will be to produce Manual J, S, and D calculation and designs using Wrightsoft and final construction documents in AutoCAD
  • Mechanical HVAC engineering and design of single- and multi-family, low- and high-rise residential HVAC systems
  • Generate detailed mechanical design drawings in AutoCAD for construction documentation of mechanical systems for bidding and construction
  • Prepare Construction Documents in AutoCAD
  • Work with design staff and drafters to complete project

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

  • Code Knowledge

  • Energy and building code compliance for mechanical systems

  • Fluent in California Title 24

  • IRC Residential Codes

  • ICC International Codes

  • Uniform building codes

  • Drive deadlines in dynamic and fast-moving environments.

  • Team players with exceptional interpersonal skills at all organizational levels.

  • Self-directed, with good initiative and a great multi-tasker

  • Strong computer skills (i.e. Microsoft word, Excel, Bluebeam, etc…)

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent comparative experience.
  • Preferred 3+ years' experience in Mechanical Design for residential building systems, code compliance, and construction.
  • Mechanical Design experience with various cooling systems, VRF systems, ventilation, and exhaust systems.
  • Mechanical Design experience with mid-rise multifamily buildings, mixed use buildings, residential and enclosed parking garages.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday day shift, however additional hours, including weekend hours, may be required in accordance with changing business needs.
