Job Description
At West Monroe, our people are our business. We pride ourselves on bringing a different mindset to consulting-one that is highly collaborative, flexible, and tenacious. Our people-first culture is core to our identity, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment where unique perspectives drive impactful results.
Our Insurance practice is a growing team that partners with Private Equity and Corporate Strategic clients to transform insurance brokers, carriers, and InsurTech companies. We assist clients across the transaction lifecycle-from pre-close due diligence to post-close integration and value creation-while also helping them adapt to market demands through operating model transformations, cost optimization strategies, and the implementation of cutting-edge technology, platforms, and analytics.
We are looking for a Senior Consultant with experience in Insurance and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to join our team. This role will focus on delivering client value, driving business development efforts, and contributing to the growth of our practice. You will work directly with clients to solve complex business and technology challenges, while mentoring junior consultants and advancing your career at one of the best places to work.
Responsibilities
Client Delivery
- Serve Private Equity and Corporate Strategic clients across the transaction lifecycle, including platform acquisitions, mergers/integrations, and divestitures/carve-outs.
- Conduct pre-close technology and operations due diligence, identifying risks and opportunities related to compliance, operations, revenue, and growth.
- Lead post-close engagements, including Day 1 readiness planning, post-merger integration, carve-out execution, and technology-enabled value creation initiatives such as digital transformation, systems migration, data strategy, and target operating model development.
- Work directly with clients to implement processes and technologies that drive business value and operational efficiency across business and technical functions.
- Facilitate client workshops to design future-state business processes, define requirements, and evaluate technology solutions against industry best practices.
- Interface with all levels of management, including C-level executives, at client organizations.
- Develop client-ready communications, such as project plans, implementation plans, and financial models, to facilitate decision-making, mitigate risks, and resolve issues.
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining high attention to detail and prioritizing competing demands.
- Collaborate with engagement teams to establish highly functioning joint project teams and reduce project risk.
Practice Development
- Build data-driven methodologies and assets for evaluating Insurance services and technology businesses in a due diligence capacity.
- Enhance frameworks and tools for technology due diligence, advisory engagements, and broader Insurance practice initiatives.
- Collaborate with software, infrastructure, and security architects to elevate the Insurance advisory capabilities of the M&A team.
- Actively participate in recruiting top talent, mentoring junior consultants, and contributing to the performance management process.
Business Development
- Support business development efforts by creating work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for prospects.
- Assist in tailoring proposals to client investment needs and constraints, particularly in the Insurance and Financial Services sectors.
- Build and leverage a professional network by attending industry events and engaging with clients and prospects.
- Actively participate in M&A and Insurance industry events to stay informed of market trends and competitive dynamics.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in consulting, M&A, or IT within the Insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of Insurance sub-sectors, including brokers, carriers, MGAs, InsurTech, BPO/Insurance Services, and FinTech.
- Experience in M&A-centric roles (e.g., due diligence, post-merger integration, carve-outs) with Private Equity investors or corporate strategics.
- Familiarity with SaaS, software company transactions, and technology transformations is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage concurrent projects and workstreams efficiently.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality assurance skills.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present to C-level executives.
- Proficiency in project planning methodologies and software development life cycles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in collaborative, team-based environments
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
- Ability to travel up to 30%; travel is typically short-term (2-3 days on-site per diligence project, 50% during post-close execution).
- Authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.
- A commitment to inclusion, diversity, and openness to new ideas and perspectives.
