Sr. Design Engineer - Networking Racks (R&D)

What YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

In this position, you will be:

  • Support/Own design activities for networking racks, including structural, thermal, and cable management aspects.
  • Work on prototyping activities and coordinate testing for structural integrity, airflow, and thermal performance.
  • Represent in design reviews and implement feedback for continuous improvement
  • Generate alternate rack mounting solutions and Design optimization to ensure that the designed racks meet the global standards such as UL/IEC/ISO
  • Gain an understanding of the competitor products to benchmark, analyze and understand the current product gaps and introduce the solutions to overcome these in current or New products as needed
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain engineers to simplify designs and improve manufacturability.
  • Specify purchased part requirements and work with Supply team to source parts for use in designs.
  • Work with multi-functional teams to help launch standard and customized products by taking market specifications from design to prototype to production.
  • Collaborate with Engineering/Project Leaders on tasks scope, time lines and ensure the project deliverables.
  • Design test specifications and protocols, coordinate testing in our world class laboratory facility and help review test reports for the completion and accuracy of information.
  • Direct outside test activities such as regulatory or other third party testing.
  • Work with outside vendors and help develop design solutions and related technologies

You have:

  • Bachelor's/Masters degree in Mechanical or related engineering field.
  • Exp:4 to 8years of work experience with Racks/Enclosure/Cabinets/Sheet Metal Manufacturing industry
  • Competent knowledge of Enclosures, Cabinets Racks & Sub-racks in terms of construction, applicable standards and field of application
  • Understanding of 19" server design and applicable standards
  • Knowledge of Racks or sheet metal structure for cooling products like Rear door coolers/In row coolers /CDU's
  • Deeper understanding of sheet metal manufacturing limitations, tooling requirements and associated sheet metal manufacturing processes like punching, bending, Welding and Powder coating.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware and accessories data that are used in Racks/Enclosures
  • Capability to build custom sheet metal parts to assemble/support the components/accessories associated with racks
  • Ability to work closely with electrical, thermal, and systems engineering teams to integrate components seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of varieties of racks used in Networking and Data Center/General electronic will be an added advantage
  • Partner with sourcing and suppliers for cost-effective and high-quality solutions.
  • Drive innovation in rack architecture for scalability, modularity, and ease of deployment.
  • Knowledge of compliance with industry standards (ISO, IEC, UL) and customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of Electrical/electronic components and assemblies with understanding of layout/cable routing is an added advantage
  • DFM & A is a must to have to ensure the manufacturability of the products intended to design
  • Experience in design and failure analysis tools such as DFMEA, 8D/RCCM etc.
  • Ability to design components and assemblies using 3D CAD systems (i.e. SolidWorks) and knowledge of Enovia will be a plus
  • Experience in NPI Stage Gate processes
