Job Summary
The Office Secretary supports daily operations of a medical office by managing patient communication, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients while ensuring administrative processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Maryland resident
- Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18-24)
- Experience: Medical office and computer experience preferred
- Licensure/Certification: None required
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage confidential information
- Good grammar and written communication skills
- Organizational and multitasking abilities
- Basic computer proficiency
What You'll Do
- Answer patient calls and respond to inquiries, prioritizing urgent messages
- Schedule patient appointments accurately
- Verify insurance information and enter data into systems
- Address patient questions or refer to appropriate staff
- Communicate appointment updates, delays, or cancellations
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information
- Keep the office organized and assist with administrative tasks (mail, scanning, forms)
