Job Description

A Unique Tax Leadership Role at One of the Nation’s Fastest Growing RIAs

Are you a tax professional who wants to do more than compliance? Do you want to integrate tax expertise into the full financial picture of high-net-worth clients, their families, and their businesses?

Cerity Partners is one of the largest and fastest-growing registered investment advisers (RIAs) in the United States. As a member of our Louisville-based Central Tax team, you’ll work with clients from across the country, offering tax solutions that are fully aligned with financial, estate, and investment planning—all under one roof.

This is not a traditional public accounting role. There are no billable hours, and we offer a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where tax professionals are trusted advisors, not technicians. We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our in-office team and help shape the future of our integrated tax practice.

Role can be remote to the right person, but preferred in Louisville, KY office.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Review and sign individual and business tax returns for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients nationwide.

  • Lead tax planning conversations in collaboration with Cerity Partners' financial advisors, presenting strategy and projections in client-facing meetings.

  • Prepare and review tax projections for estimated payments, charitable strategies, retirement planning, and Roth conversions.

  • Act as the dedicated tax advisor to clients and advisory teams, helping secure and deepen long-term relationships.

  • Mentor junior staff, sharing expertise and promoting professional growth across the team.

  • Ensure tax compliance while identifying strategic planning opportunities to enhance the client experience.

  • Contribute to process improvements, helping refine workflow and support scalability as our Central Tax team grows.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with private equity, executive compensation, high complexity K-1 activity, and multi-state filings at the individual level

  • Growth mindset – desire to improve, learn, and evolve in a high-performing team

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dense environment during tax season

  • Interest in building a long-term career with access to unique career paths and advancement opportunities as Cerity Partners continues to grow

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus)

  • CPA, EA, or JD designation

  • 7+ years of experience in a similar setting

  • Proven experience working with high-net-worth individuals and family entities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with UltraTax (preferred)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-first mindset

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Compensation Range:

$140,000 - $175,000

Why Join Cerity Partners?

  • No billable hours – Focus on impact, not time sheets

  • Relocation bonus available – We’ll help you make Louisville home

  • Salary + annual bonus – With incentive equity opportunities available for high performers

  • National client exposure – Serve sophisticated clients from across the U.S.

  • Collaborative, growing team – Work in a high-growth, team-based culture that values autonomy, accountability, and shared success

  • Long-term career path – Opportunities for advancement, education, and equity
