Qualifications: | A high school diploma or GED is required, and applicants must be at least 21 years old. Previous experience working with children preferred CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within the required timeframe) Basic knowledge of early childhood development principles Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with staff |
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: | The TLC Assistant supports the TLC Lead in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, supervising children, and ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met in accordance with established policies and procedures. |

Tools/Equipment Used: | Educational/Play Materials: Toys, books, art supplies (paints, crayons), sensory bins, and musical instruments. Classroom Management Tools: Digital apps (e.g., Brightwheel or Tadpoles), 3-ring binders for portfolios, checklists in sheet protectors, and label makers. Sanitation/Safety Gear: Cleaning/disinfecting agents, wipes, gloves, first-aid kits, and thermometers. Child Care Equipment: Strollers, high chairs, cribs, changing tables, and playground structures. Administrative Items: Computers, printers, and daily log books |
Posture: | Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods Frequent bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor |
Motion: | Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations Ability to assist children with daily activities and mobility |
Lifting: | Frequent requirements to lift and carry children (up to 25–40 lbs) or move furniture/equipment. |
Environment: | Active classroom setting with young children Exposure to noise, bodily fluids, and common childhood illnesses A combination of indoor classroom and outdoor playground supervision Fast-paced, interactive, and physically active environment Capability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions |
