Overview:
A leading professional tax and bookkeeping services firm in Boxborough, MA, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead their team. This pivotal role involves managing complex tax engagements for a diverse clientele, including individuals, businesses, and trusts. The ideal candidate will be a strategic advisor, ensuring compliance, driving tax savings, and fostering strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead client engagements, building trusted relationships by advising on complex tax matters, risk mitigation, and savings opportunities.
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, businesses, and trusts.
- Deliver proactive tax planning strategies to optimize clients' financial positions.
- Manage the full accounting and tax cycles for high-net-worth clients across various industries.
- Represent clients in IRS and state tax audits, providing expert support and resolution strategies.
- Mentor, oversee, and contribute to the professional growth of junior tax staff.
- Implement and maintain firm tax policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Continuously stay up to date with evolving tax laws and industry developments.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA certification or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is required.
Experiences
- Proven experience (5+ years preferred) in public accounting or a professional tax firm.
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex returns for individuals, businesses, and trusts.
- Demonstrated experience in client representation during IRS and state audits.
- Strong experience in tax planning and consulting.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff is essential.
