Job Description

Ash & Harris Executive Search is looking for a Project Engineer (Heavy Civil Construction)

Overview:
Our client, a leading Heavy Civil Contractor, is seeking a skilled Project Engineer to support project staff in ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. This role is critical within their Water/Wastewater & Heavy Civil Departments, offering the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update project schedules in collaboration with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Research and correct suspicious job cost items.
  • Attend pre-planning, pre-construction, and weekly project meetings, preparing and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Develop detailed construction schedules using Primavera and project cash flow reports.
  • Process change orders, force accounts, and back charges.
  • Assist with project closeout, including as-builts, quantity take-offs, and job cost histories.
  • Prepare progress estimates and visit project sites regularly.
  • Work closely with agency representatives and project stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science degree (preferred) OR
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field OR
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:
    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Primavera (Suretrak).
    • Knowledge of construction equipment and government regulations.
    • Experience in water/wastewater projects (a plus).
  • Other:
    • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
    • Adaptability to shifting priorities and willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or out of town when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $65,000 – $95,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
