Job Description
Position Title: SPP Intake Specialist - Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego
Department: Safe Parking Program/PAHS
Position Type: Full-Time (37.5+ hours/week), Non-Exempt
Work Setting: Hybrid, must reside in San Diego County
Reports To: SPP Program Manager
Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.15/hour

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the JFS Safe Parking Program team as an Intake Specialist. In this role, you can use your communication skills, organizational skills, and customer support experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego for people experiencing homelessness. Working as a part of the Safe Parking JFS Team, the Intake Specialist is responsible for receiving and responding to all incoming client inquiries in a timely manner and connecting clients to services within the Safe Parking Program. Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary. This position reports to the JFS Safe Parking Program Manager and works closely with the JFS Safe Parking team and other key point people across the agency.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to incoming calls and web inquiries for services with the Safe Parking Program
- Conduct initial assessment to identify needs, safety concerns, program eligibility
- Screen and refer callers to an appropriate Safe Parking Site
- Maintain clear and timely documentation of all communication in electronic client record system
- Provide a consistently high level of customer service
- Cultivate relationships and work collaboratively with other JFS/SPP program staff
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the Safe Parking sites eligibility requirements
- Follow up with client referrals as appropriate
- Flexibly respond to evolving program models and client needs
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations
Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service role
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience in working with clients in distress, often experiencing some level of urgency
- Ability to provide professional and friendly customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of the unhoused population and the concept of trauma informed care
- Desire to work in an integrated team environment
- Ability to show unconditional positive regard for clients who turn to JFS/SPP for support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs
- Experience in utilizing client records system
Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Prior experience in monitoring high volume calls
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience working with individuals and families facing homelessness
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting/Standing for long periods of time
