Job Summary
The Production Planner/Scheduler will assume responsibility for production planning of fittings and packaging supplies used in the manufacturing process. This position will report into the Plant Manager.
Principal Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a production schedule for molding, assembly work centers and Friatec.
- Set production priorities using planning system inputs.
- Create and maintain work orders to reflect current production schedule dates and quantities.
- Maintain the supply chain of fittings items manufactured at the Charlotte facility.
- Notify the plant manager of capacity shortages or excesses, anticipated back orders and/or disruption to expected service.
- Notify customer service of interruption in service that causes items to be out of stock due to mold, machine or quality problems.
- Prepare operating reports to summarize downtime, scrap, inventory levels and variance from standards.
- Order and/or communicate ordering requirements for packaging supplies and initiate the proper receiving documentation upon arrival.
- Participate in daily production meetings to communicate current inventory levels and operating conditions.
- Maintain quality standards by complying with the Approved Compounds/Components List, Quality Control Manual, and ISO procedures.
- Navigate complex problems with clear judgement to identify alternative course of action where procedures/policies may not exist.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing scheduling in a MRP Environment.
- Working towards an APICS (CPIM or other) certification.
- A proven record of accomplishment in a continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) manufacturing environment with ISO 9001.
- Excellent written & verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- A strong working knowledge of computers using word processing and spreadsheets.
- Experience with inventory control and ordering supplies using min/max (Kanban)
Working Conditions
The incumbent divides time between the office and plant environments requiring various degrees of physical labor. Lifting, pulling, and pushing of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.), standing and walking are required. Job conditions may consist of noise, dust, fumes, heat, etc. The incumbent must be able to adapt and perform required duties in a fast paced and constantly changing work environment due to work priorities, deadlines, quality performance and health and safety obligations.
