Job Description

Central Ohio Primary Care is seeking an MRI Technologist for their Westerville Radiology office in Westerville, OH. The MRI Technologist  possesses a working knowledge of specific tasks and procedures associated with Magnetic Resonance Imaging. As a trained health care professional, the MRI Tech works closely  and personably with other Technologists,  Physicians, Nursing staff, and Office staff.  The primary goal of the MRI Technologist is to provide prompt, courteous, and quality care to every patient requiring our services, keeping foremost in mind to preserve the patient’s dignity and rights to confidentiality.  This will be a full-time position working 11:30a-8p Monday- Friday. Four ten-hour shifts are available.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Practice magnetic protection  both individually and on  behalf of the patient.
  • Responsible  for explaining procedures to the patients and answering questions as needed.
  • Scan patients  according to protocols and parameters set forth by department  policy or  by a Radiologist.  
  • Process  exams on all successfully completed MRI exams. 
  • Troubleshoot minor problems that arise with  the MRI  scanner and PACS  system. Seek assistance  from appropriate service personnel when  necessary.
  • Stay  current on new protocols, software changes, policies and procedures, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Maintain  a clean and workable working environment at all times. Assure ample stock of linen  and  professional supplies. 
  • Start IV's and inject contrast medium whenever it is appropriate. 
  • Inform  patients of scan delays or equipment repairs that cause excess waiting for the patient. Assist in transporting patients to restroom, patient’s car or another department whenever necessary.
  • Assist  Receptionists  and Physicians in setting  up appointments for routine patients. Act  as a backup for team members who are out of the office, both planned and unplanned.
  • Participate  in continuing education applicable to the field and/or  self-improvement. Attend and participate in staff meetings and other miscellaneous mandatory meetings.
  • Assist  in training new Technologists  hired by the center. 
  • Perform  other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred:  1 year experience working in Radiology

 

Education, Licensures & Certifications 

Required:  Completion of course in Radiologic  Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Required: Hold current certification with ARRT in categories R, N, or T or MRI

Preferred:  Associate  Degree or bachelor’s degree in allied health field and certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience

 

Knowledge,  Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge  of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently input area for scanning  
  • Knowledge  of equipment, testing,  safety, body mechanics and  patient movement  
  • Knowledge  of department computer and phone systems
  • Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
  • Strong knowledge of basic MRI physics
  • Skill  in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging 
  • Skill  in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
  • Ability to assist patients on and off exam tables
  • Ability to work on a team and display a positive attitude
  • •Ability  to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • •Excellent  relationship building skills
