Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- General Description
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of office support and/or secretarial duties associated with the Fund for Veterans' Assistance (FVA) through the Bell County Veteran Service Office.
This position works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Answers telephones; provides assistance, requested documents and information; refers callers to other staff members as appropriate; and takes messages.
- Greets and directs visitors, as and when appropriate; resolves routine administrative problems and answers inquiries concerning activities.
- Performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of FVA functions, including but not limited to establishing and maintaining files and maintaining computer record-keeping functions.
- Conducts data entry into multiple databases or software systems.
- Communicates and supports clients by providing case status, disposition, and information associated with FVA. Responsible for acting as a liaison between veterans, the VSO, and the Bell County Grants team.
- Contact beneficiaries for appointment scheduling and other FVA service meetings.
- Utilizes VETPRO to track and maintain all veteran records; compile reports for Office and TVC. Assists with maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of these records.
- Assist Certified Veterans Service Officers in connecting beneficiaries to partner organizations, community resources, and other necessary services.
- Print, mail, ship flyer's, educational literature, critical documents, and vendor documents as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of clerical or administrative support experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Physical Demands:
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
