Supply Chain Manager – NH Operations

Location: Newport, NH
Company: Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.

Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc., a leading manufacturer of rugged and reliable firearms for the commercial sporting market, is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to lead our New Hampshire branch operations. This high-impact leadership role will be responsible for the entire supply chain function—purchasing, sourcing, warehousing, logistics, customer service shipping/receiving, inventory control, and weekly manufacturing scheduling.

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, strategic sourcing acumen, and a hands-on approach to optimizing end-to-end supply chain processes in support of our world-class manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across procurement, warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and customer service logistics.
  • Own all sourcing and purchasing activities, ensuring alignment with company goals, supplier performance, cost savings, and inventory targets.
  • Drive Lean initiatives using the Toyota Production System (TPS) to support continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
  • Optimize replenishment strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective availability of materials for production.
  • Establish and refine KPI tracking processes and dashboards to measure inventory turns, on-hand inventory value, supplier performance, delivery reliability, and material cost variances.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Quality teams to ensure seamless flow of materials and information across the business.
  • Ensure ERP system (Oracle 12.2.12) is fully leveraged for material planning, purchasing, inventory control, and reporting.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor, developing internal talent and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and planning tools (Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Proven application of Lean manufacturing and TPS principles.
  • Experience in firearms, defense, aerospace, or automotive industries is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Financial acumen, including cost control and budgeting.
  • Certifications such as APICS/CPIM, Six Sigma, PMP, or similar are a strong plus.
