About Workplace
Our Workplace business unit prepares and serves food for a variety of Bay Area companies and institutions. Ingredients are carefully selected from organic, local, independent farms - prioritizing purchasing from BIPOC and women-owned purveyors. Prepared to satisfy refined palettes and a diverse range of dietary sensitivities and preferences, our nourishing meals aim to delight employees. Our Workplace business unit offers multiple food program solutions to meet our clients' needs.

Position Overview
The Workplace Driver will start daily in Oakland to load, transport and replenish the products for various Snack & Drink client programs. Drivers will drive a company assigned sprinter van and will travel to San Francisco, Berkeley, San Mateo, San Jose and other Client sites as needed. Additionally, this position supports Just Fare’s Office Catering team by transporting and delivering meals daily from Oakland commissary kitchen to various clients in the Bay Area.

This position requires excellent driving skills and judgment, and is responsible for ensuring all routed deliveries are on time and accurate.  Drivers must be able to work quickly and safely in a high-volume environment. 

In addition to the load in/out of meals and S&D offerings, Drivers may also be required to support other team members with any Front of House (FOH) tasks including but not limited to replenishing snacks and drinks for the entire office, restocking of snacks and beverages in the backstock areas, take inventory, brewing coffee, etc. As well as helping to maintain a clean service environment for our clients. This position may be required to drive back to our HQ in between other deliveries to assist the S&D Program Manager with receiving and processing other snack and drink orders as needed.

Responsibilities

    • Daily transportation of products, such as, snack & drinks, meals, and other supplies to and from commissary kitchen to client office locations throughout the Bay Area, including San Francisco, in a company-provided van.
    • Load and unload catering vans (500-1000 lbs of food) daily. Be accountable for properly checking and loading the van and delivering correctly all items for all accounts
    • Monitor time and temperature of food to ensure safe transport
    • Clean cambro transport containers
    • Assist with the daily execution of cleaning/upkeep protocols of your vehicle; and assist the Fleet Coordinator with bi-weekly van cleanings/detailing (as needed)
    • Perform daily errands such as delivering food donations to community partners, equipment pick up, and occasional purchases from vendors. Assist in filling orders at the warehouse as needed.
    • Ensure all Snack & Drinks and other accompaniments are stocked.  And as needed assist the Workplace Attendant with setup and cleaning of the coffee station including checking equipment, brewing coffee, etc as well as perform regular cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
    • Manage signage by ensuring they are clean and visible to the community, taking note of any additional signage that may be needed and printing, laminating and delivering new signage to client sites.
    • Stock and organize all snacks and beverages according to Just Fare’s merchandising specifications.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work/service environment
    • Assist with weekly inventory as needed, for every snack and drink item delivered by Just Fare within our online inventory systems. 
    • Become familiar with client product mix and proactively communicate about movement of snack and drink products onsite. check and properly FIFO product onsite.
    • Be a friendly face and host within all office kitchen areas
    • Create an authentic connection with our client community and regularly check-in with the client points of contact for any program feedback.
    • Perform routine equipment maintenance and fill out service logs.
    • Help uphold Just Fare hospitality standards. 
    • Send detailed end of service reports daily

Qualifications & Requirements

    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
    • 2+ years experience in a formal kitchen environment or food operation with a passion for food and people
    • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, communication and patience
    • Attendance and punctuality is required with schedule flexibility determined by needs 
    • Ability to be a self-sufficient problem solver and make sound decisions on-the-fly 
    • Basic Food Handler Certification
    • Strong understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
    • Basic understanding of online inventory systems 
    • Experience with stocking and merchandising is a plus 
    • Smart Phone Mobile device required for daily communications
    • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs in and out of a van repetitively

$20 - $20 an hour
Competitive wages in an equitable tiered pay structure for all positions. Non-Negotiable.
Schedule & Expectations
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with hours dependent on the service. You are responsible for managing your schedule, based on your shift availability, with your supervisor.
Possible shifts include: Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 11:45 am 
NOTE: shifts may potentially go longer up to 8 hours, when supporting the office catering.
