Job Description

Come join our team as a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer. This senior-level position is responsible for overseeing the delivery and deployment process of embedded software systems. The role includes managing the North America Software Deployment Steering Committee, ensuring seamless integration of software components, and coordinating the end-to-end software delivery process. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional technical teams and effective stakeholder communication to ensure high-quality software deployment in alignment with business and technical objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the NA Software Deployment Steering Committee.
  • Manage the end-to-end embedded software delivery and deployment process, from planning to execution.
  • Ensure seamless integration of embedded software across technical platforms and vehicle systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency, alignment, and timely updates.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and efficiency gains.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with software delivery and deployment.
  • Support and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Act as a role model within the team, exemplifying best practices in coordination, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Build and maintain a strong professional network within the wider Volvo Group to influence and support software delivery initiatives.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software delivery coordination, ideally within the automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
  • Strong technical expertise in embedded software systems and integration.
  • Proven track record in project coordination, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile and/or traditional project management methodologies.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching junior colleagues and contributing to team development.

  • T-shaped professional profile with deep expertise in embedded systems and broad knowledge across software development disciplines.
  • Confident in navigating and influencing within a global, matrixed organization.
  • Clear articulation of individual and team contributions to Technical Development (TD) and Business Areas (BA).
