Position Duties

The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor to teach in the department (4/4 teaching load) and provide service to the department and university beginning in fall 2025. Position duties include teaching all levels of Italian language, as well as providing service to the department and the University. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000-$51,000, commensurate with experience.

Please upload a cover letter, a Curriculum Vitae, evidence of excellence in teaching, and a teaching statement. After initial review, candidates will be asked to provide a list of three professional references who can provide a letter commenting on teaching ability. Application review will begin on June 09, 2025 and continue until the position is filled.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have at least an M.A. or equivalent in Italian Language and/or Literature (or a related discipline);
  • Have native or near-native fluency in Italian;
  • Demonstrate the potential for and a commitment to teaching excellence;
  • Be responsive to the educational needs of our diversifying student population.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in college-level Italian language instruction
  • Commitment to the goals of education in the Jesuit tradition
  • An appreciation of or engagement in high-impact teaching practice
  • A strong interest in providing experiential learning opportunities for students
