Data Integration Engineer

We are seeking a highly capable and communicative Data Integration Engineer to join our healthcare technology team. This role demands strong technical expertise in MuleSoft API development and Azure Cloud Services along with the ability to work independently on API development, explain integration workflows, and provide ongoing support. You will collaborate closely with Architects to ensure systems align with our IT long-term strategy. 

As a key player in our integration team, you will help ensure the secure and reliable flow of data between internal systems, third-party platforms, and healthcare partners, while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Design, build, and manage APIs using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform to support data integration with external healthcare systems. 
  • Configure and maintain SFTP services, ensuring secure and efficient file-based data exchanges. 
  • Develop and maintain several interfaces that allow patient ingestion into our applications.   
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical users and business stakeholders. 
  • May participate in the design and development of the Databases associated with one or more applications 
  • Work with a variety of vendors using modern technologies to receive, transmit, and ingest data. 
  • Ensure integration solutions meet healthcare compliance standards, including HIPAA and HITRUST. 
  • Build and deliver great software while maintaining a clear understanding and vision of the customers’ needs 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, including connectivity, authentication, and data formatting problems. 
  • Evaluate new applications, packages and tools and perform research in best practices. 
  • Maintain the project momentum through timely communication and problem-solving with all stakeholders. 
  • Help your team, the customer, and the company constantly get better. 

About You: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of MuleSoft experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of data integration, software engineering, or a related technical role. 
  • Proven experience designing and deploying APIs using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. 
  • Healthcare integration experience and knowledge of HL7. 
  • Solid knowledge of SFTP service configuration, including encryption, authentication, and key management.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working directly with customers. 
  • A passion for great outcomes, software development, and learning.  
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP, JSON, XML, and data transformation standards. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Experience with Mirth, Azure API Management, or similar integration tools.   
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD best practices. 
  • Ability/desire to thrive in a service-oriented culture. 
  • Quick and deep learner. 
  • Driven to make a difference.

Nice to Have: 

  • MuleSoft Developer Certification (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Developer – Level 1). 
  • Experience with EHR/EMR integration or claims data systems. 
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and security best practices. 
  • Experience with client-facing project implementation or onboarding. 
  • Experience collaborating in Agile SDLC environments.
