Reports To: Reports to the Catering and Special Events Manager and/or Catering and Special Events Coordinator.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

WCBay's Catering Service Staff delivers well-prepared food while ensuring every meal meets federal, state, and local standards - and aligns with our company's high-quality policies and procedures. You'll work closely with the Catering and Special Events Manager and/or Coordinator to help create exceptional dining experiences.

What You'll Do In This Role

  • Ensures the dining experience is enjoyable through cheerful behavior and carefully following established procedures for food handling, plate presentation and service.
  • Follows established style and order of service while serving in any of the Banquet rooms.
  • Performs assigned before and after side work tasks.
  • Possesses the ability to follow instructions, work well with others and maintain a good report with guests and fellow employees.
  • General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices.
  • Has ability to address most problems but pulls in the support of the Catering and Special Events Coordinator for those problems that can not be handled independently.
  • Follows rules concerning personal appearance and work performance.
  • Responsible for hot/cold food handling, including accompaniments and garnishes.
  • Keep all work areas clean and organized, not allowing clutter in the service area.
  • Will be available to work days/night, weekends and holidays.
  • Proper beverage service.
  • Timely setting of tables for meal service.
  • Clears all areas of service including tables, chairs, work area and equipment used in service area.
  • Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with evacuation of Banquet Area to a safe location in event of fire or other emergency.
  • Cooperates with all staff members.
  • Must take necessary precautions and follow correct procedures for lifting and bending.
  • Able to work well independently given proper direction.
  • Provides a clean, safe and neat environment for all.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • High levels of sensitivity and interest in people, especially senior adults.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Subject to moderate physical stress with food service.
  • Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals which require precautions.
  • Capable of lifting, carrying and balancing a 10-15 pound tray
  • Frequent stooping and bending; lifting, pushing , pulling and moving a minimum of 50 pound cart; and maneuvering independently and safely around the work area.
  • Capable of standing and walking for three to eight hour shifts.
  • Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can fully be met.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment, including can opener, and knives.
  • The ability to wipe the complete surface of a table.
  • Sound, mental and physical health.

The Experience You'll Bring

Required

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Preferred

  • Prior Banquet Service experience preferred
