Job Description
Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer to support various ongoing programs within the Microwave Technologies and Systems Development Operation.
The engineer will:
Lead the design, development, and integration of mechanical and thermal subsystems for high-voltage and high-power systems and supporting technologies
Conduct analyses of complex problems using first principles
Manage and execute technical projects with minimal ovesight, from concept through test and delivery
Produce technical documentation of assigned projects
This position involves hands-on work in a laboratory setting with a highly multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with electrical engineers, computer engineers, and technicians to design, build, and test advanced pulsed power and HPM systems. Responsibilities include mechanical and thermal design and analysis, prototype and low-rate production builds, and failure analysis.
Required Qualifications:
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in R&D, prototyping, or system integration roles
Self-motivated and able to work well within research and development team
Experience with end-to-end construction of prototype hardware, production hardware, experimental setups, or other types of mechanical constructions
Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA NX, or similar software packages
Demonstrated proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturing
Demonstrated experience in heat transfer mechanics and thermal systems, preferably in electrical systems
Experience with standard electrical laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, and power supplies
Desired Qualifications:
Masters or PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
Machine shop or hands-on fabrication experience (lathes, mills, 3D printers, etc.)
Experience in design of high-voltage systems, including insulation techniques, creepage and clearance design, and material selection
Experience with multiphysics analysis tools, such as COMSOL or PLECS
Experience leading and/or mentoring technical teams
Experience with HPM-specific engineering disciplines such as high voltage engineering, circuit card mechanical assemblies, pulsed power, prime power, power electronics, high power RF, and/or antenna development
