Security Officer - Armed

Summary of the Job:
Patrols the interior and exterior grounds of the hospital to protect property and to assist in providing a safe environment for all patients, visitors, physicians and employees. Responds to all emergency situations and alerts local authorities when required, monitors vehicle and pedestrian traffic on hospital property. Monitors visitors and issues passes after hours. Enforces and follows Security and St. Tammany Parish Hospital policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to read, write and follow written or oral instructions. Previous security experience required. You must not have any felony convictions and have a phone. Must be certified by a recognized and Security Manager approved training personnel. Must satisfactory complete firearm training, written test and qualify on the firing range. Firearms recertification must be performed annually. You must follow the Use of Force Policy and Procedures and sign off on the firearm affidavit.
Must be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification or registration with the Louisiana State Board of Private Security examiners preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 100 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required: Constant (67%-100%) – talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) – balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling/feeling
Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), crawling
