Job Description
Job Summary
The CNC Set-Up Operator is responsible to computer program parts, set-up CNC machine, other related machinery, and run quality products while meeting customer's needs. These processes must be completed in a safely, timely and efficient manner.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Ability to read and follow work orders, instructions and blueprints.
- Setup and safely operate CNC job runs.
- Monitor all operating functions on machines to detect problems in programming and setup.
- Make adjustments in tooling or with computer program, as needed.
- Organize and prepare materials for next run to shorten changeover time.
- Prepare and develop computer programs while understanding the capabilities of the computer, such as uploading and downloading programs and file management.
- Perform in-process, receiving and final inspections required for all areas.
- Perform variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures and transfer of parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled (i.e., oiling and greasing).
- Capable of identifying existing in-house jobs that could be run more efficiently on the CNC.
- Cross train to learn other machinery
- Monitor Universal Tooling utilized on the CNC.
- Follow ISO procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain 6S and housekeeping
- Ability to withstand stress that may accompany deadlines, or work on complicated problems for extended periods of time.
- Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Meet the following visual requirements: close, color peripheral depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Communicate using speech, hearing and vision skills.
- Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping and grasping.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Forklift (i.e. powered industrial truck) operation.
- Follow all established safety rules and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and seldom lifting to 50lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position at 40+ hours per week. Days and hours of work will be determined by the location. Eight (8) hour shifts are Monday through Friday and ten (10) hour shifts are Monday through Thursday. Occasional overtime, evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Must be 18 years or
- Basic math
- 1-3 years programming and CNC
- Some computer literacy
- Capable of using measuring instruments, e. micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
- Capable of using all required hand
Preferred Education and Experience
- 3-5 years programming and CNC
- 2+ years of Machine Tool Techniques
- Knowledge of the manufacturing process is helpful
