Job Description

Summary: The Director, Product Management is responsible for driving the development of our products, programs and services. The Director, Product Management will build products, programs and services from existing ideas as well as be responsible for developing new ideas based on market research, industry experience and contact with customers and prospects.  Incumbent must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. Incumbent must also spend time in the market to understand its problems and find innovative solutions for it.

This position will be dedicated to improving workflows and automation and must have experience in focusing on designing, building, and improving systems that automate business processes and streamline workflows, either for internal teams or external customers. Their core mission is to reduce manual work, increase efficiency, and ensure seamless integration between tools, systems, and teams. Experience with Appian’s platform or low-code, no-code solutions is required.

Incumbent must be able to communicate with all areas of the company.  They must work with delivery team counterparts to define product release requirements as well as with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. Incumbent will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for Healthesystems’ product offering, occasionally working with sales and key customers. 

Key Responsibilities: “To simplify complexities for each customer.”

  1. Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying and conducting the research needed to obtain market information.
  2. Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product opportunities by understanding the customer’s problem and creating solutions and/or new product ideas to solve. Communicates scope with Product Owner and team members and ensures alignment throughout the opportunity.  
  3. Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.  Identify and create solutions to fill these gaps.
  4. Works with leaders and sales team to develop product strategies and vision.  Communicate these strategies within the organization.
  5. Assesses product market data and ideas by interacting with customers, assessing industry trends, and evaluating prospect data and interactions.
  6. Provide sales support, including responses to RFPs from prospective customers.
  7. Provide guidance and support for new customer implementations and customer projects.
  8. Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and delivery teams.
  9. Prioritizing features, creating product roadmaps, and managing product backlogs. 
  10. Works with Operations and Product Delivery teams to ensure operational requirements are implemented.
  11. Maintains a high level of understanding of the product performance measures or key drivers.  
  12. Maintains product expertise allowing detailed conversations regarding functionality and results achieved using product features.
  13. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by working with the product delivery teams, attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  14. Provides thought leadership in the design of new processes and interactions to enhance the overall customer experience.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities:  

May supervise up to 5 direct reports.

Product Management will provide internal leadership and a focused product vision to the development team and the entire organization. This individual needs to inspire others to follow his/her vision, while remaining non-dictatorial.  The individual needs to be confident and assertive regarding final product decisions as Product Management has the primary responsibility for the success or failure of the product.

This individual will be collaborative and act as a sponge to absorb ideas from any and all areas of the company and customers, filtering these ideas using the product strategy so the output is a clear focused vision to the development teams and the organization. 

The individual will model and affirm shared company values and maintain mutual trust and respect.  Product Management may provide an external leadership role, often acting the contact point for media inquiries and industry analysts, speakers at conferences, etc.

Product Management will assimilate information – feedback from clients, quantitative data from analytics, research reports, market trends and statistics.  A comprehensive knowledge about the product, the marketplace and the customer are required in order to maintain/support the product as well as create a successful product vision.

Qualifications/Education/Certifications:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Depending on area of expertise, this position may require state licensure in the area of practice, (such as being a state-licensed physical therapist) therefore also requiring a specific degree.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Appian platform or low-code, no-code solutions experience is required.
  • Workers’ Compensation industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Travel up to 40% of the time may be required to attend meetings and visit locations throughout the country.
  • Proven working experience in product management.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its entire lifecycle
  • Ability to take customer and stakeholder needs, market trends, technical trends and own perspective to develop a product vision and associated strategies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present recommendations to executive management.
  • Self-confidence in dealing with ambiguity and changing market conditions to create solutions that will meet customers’ needs in the present and the future.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and comfort with data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent intuition into the user experience with demonstrated success in creating innovative, user-friendly solutions
  • Ability to translate strategic differentiators into innovative and detailed product requirements
  • Strong technical aptitude and an ability to understand and discuss architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs, and assess new opportunities with technical team members.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Duties are performed primarily in a home office setting utilizing computer equipment.  Travel to attend meetings and visit locations throughout the country may be required.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, geographical cost of labor, etc.  In addition to base pay, Healthesystems offers a comprehensive benefits package including, health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, wellness resources, recognition programs, 401k contribution, and PTO & Holiday pay (all subject to eligibility requirements). Anticipated Starting Pay Range
$115,600$158,950 USD
