Summary: 

The HVAC entry level technician plays a crucial role in supporting HVAC Technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This entry-level position allows individuals to gain hands-on experience, learn essential skills, and grow within the HVAC industry. HVAC Helpers will work alongside skilled technicians to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and ensure systems are running efficiently and safely.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist HVAC Technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for residential and commercial heating and cooling systems. 
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing air filters, cleaning condenser coils, checking refrigerant levels, and other tasks as assigned. 
  • Work alongside technicians to ensure the proper function of HVAC systems, identifying and diagnosing common system malfunctions. 
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to assist with repairs and installations. 
  • Support the team in troubleshooting HVAC system issues and providing solutions under the guidance of a technician. 
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage of tools and equipment. 
  • Follow instructions carefully and ask questions when uncertain to ensure accurate work performance. 
  • Learn and apply the basics of preventative maintenance to extend the life and efficiency of HVAC systems. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising HVAC Technician or Manager. 

  

Experience and Skills:  

  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, with a willingness to learn more advanced techniques. 
  • Proficiency in handling common tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, and other HVAC-specific tools (training will be provided). 
  • Ability to work with and learn the operation of diagnostic equipment for HVAC systems. 
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and the correct use of tools and equipment to prevent accidents. 
  • Strong focus on performing quality work to prevent costly errors or damage to HVAC systems. 
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply them correctly to maintain system integrity. 
  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team. 
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn and improve in a technical environment.  

Physical Demands

  • Work is mostly performed in an outdoor setting with some tasks in an office environment. 
  • Hand-eye Coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. 
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Frequently required to stand and talk or hear, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. 
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work heights. 
  • Occasionally lift up to fifty (50) pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment:  

  • Normally works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high, precarious places. 
  • Exposure to wet and humid conditions, airborne particles and confined spaces.
