Job Description

Summary

The Zero Waste Manager will assist in the LA City Waste Franchise transition and ongoing account service in support of the City's Zero Waste plan. The Zero Waste Manager will also be responsible for working with the Sales Director in leading, developing and motivating sales/recycling coordinators in order to achieve the overall corporate objectives and be compliant with the City of LA contract.

Job Description

  • Develop, coach, and motivate Recycling Coordinators in order to achieve departmental and company objectives
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve zero waste
  • Responsible for identifying and evaluating new waste reduction opportunities
  • Responsible for generating sales opportunities by identifying appropriate business targets
  • Work closely with direct reports to develop excellent relationships with customers
  • Work closely with direct reports to find new business opportunities IE sweeping, pressure washing, other locations outside the City of LA
  • Responsible for gathering, interpreting and informing executive management on reports and results
  • Develop and implement sales action plan based on goals and objectives as set forth by management
  • Assists Coordinators with creating and conducting proposal presentations
  • Conducts reviews with all Coordinators to build more effective communications, understand training and development needs, and provide insight for the improvement of sales and activity performance
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance of the team
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Develop individuals professionally and identify career path opportunities
  • Work cross functionally with other departments: Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Collections, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7 + years sales and marketing experience.
  • 5+ years supervisory and management experience
  • Effective communication skills across various levels of the organization, with customers, and with government regulatory agencies
  • Proficiency in sales & marketing principles and techniques and demonstrated track record in developing and driving sales initiatives.
  • Valid CA driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to prepare and interpret business and/or sales reports, correspondences, and service agreements; also must be able to analyze and interpret procedural guidelines regarding operations, maintenance, and safety.
  • Strong user skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), MS-Outlook.
  • Displays professionalism in behaviors and attitudes both in and out of the work environment.
  • Ability to often travel to surrounding Los Angeles City and County areas
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (i.e. Spanish, Korean, Chinese, etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • Industry background in waste management, recycling, environmental, or related service industry
  • Experience in CRM Databases (i.e. Softpak) and sales related software (i.e. Salesforce)
  • Certification, training, and experience in recycling and materials management

  • Oral/Written communication, analytical abilities, calculating, problem solving continuously.

  • Walking, standing, & sitting frequently.

  • Reaching, crouching, stooping, bending, & lifting less than or equal to 50 Lbs. occasionally.

  • Eye/hand coordination continuously.

  • Fingering (typing, picking), holding (grasping), feet (foot pedals), wrist motion (flexion/rotation) frequently.

  • Environmental:

  • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, noise, chemicals frequently.

  • Exposure to outside elements (hot/cold/rain conditions) frequently.

  • Walking on potential slippery surfaces occasionally.

  • Works inside and outside.
