Job Description

What to Expect

Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.

Our first goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron Power’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.

We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.

Job Overview

As Heron Power’s first commercial-focused hire, you will play a foundational role in shaping our business function from the ground up. This role blends product management and business development, with a focus on defining go-to-market strategy, identifying early customer opportunities, and translating market needs into actionable product direction. You’ll work closely with our technical and leadership teams to validate product-market fit, forge lighthouse customer relationships, and help establish the commercial playbook for our power conversion products. You’ll interface regularly with industry stakeholders—including renewable developers, EPCs, data center operators, and utilities—and translate market needs into commercial requirements that guide business strategy and product development. This is a high-impact opportunity to help build the commercial engine of a fast-moving energy technology startup at the forefront of grid modernization.

How You Will Contribute

  • Define product requirements and strategic positioning for Heron’s offerings across target markets (solar, energy storage, data centers).

  • Identify and pursue lighthouse customer opportunities, driving early-stage partnerships, pilots, and long-term commercial agreements.

  • Collaborate with engineering and applications teams to ensure customer needs are met from prototype through deployment.

  • Develop competitive market analysis and support pricing strategy, ROI modeling, and value proposition development.

  • Lead the creation of customer-facing materials including data sheets, pitch decks, proposals, and product presentations.

  • Represent Heron Power at conferences, trade shows, and industry working groups to build brand awareness and partnerships.

What You Will Bring

We value clear thinkers who thrive in ambiguity, have a deep understanding of infrastructure markets, and are energized by building from zero.

Must Have Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, business development, or strategic marketing roles in the energy or infrastructure sector

  • Strong understanding of B2B hardware commercialization cycles

  • Ability to synthesize technical and market feedback into product requirements and positioning

  • Excellent communication skills, including customer-facing presentation and negotiation experience

  • Strategic thinking paired with an action-oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice to Haves

  • Prior experience bringing new energy hardware products to market

  • Familiarity with utility-scale project development, procurement, and commissioning

  • Understanding of medium-voltage systems and applications in renewable energy, EV charging, or data centers

  • Network within the utility, IPP, or data center infrastructure industries

If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.

Heron Power provides competitive compensation (salary and equity) and benefits. The salary for this role ranges from $90,000 to $180,000 per year.
