A Brief Overview
Supports a clinic physician by proficiently operating the Electronic Medical Record by efficiently entering orders and documenting patient encounters for the physician; allowing him/her to focus their time on direct patient care rather than the computer. While this is not a direct patient care position, the individual may be called on periodically to perform patient care to assure efficient patient flow and high quality care and services.
What you will do
- Learns and maintains proficient understanding and utilization of the EMR (LSS).
- Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient encounters and procedures in the medical record.
- Enters accurate, complete, legible and timely orders based on physician's orders in the medical record.
- Works collaboratively as a team member with the physician, nurse(s), and receptionists in a clinic setting to provide exceptional patient care.
- Maintains knowledge of preauthorization process and ensure all criteria is met before orders for advanced imaging is placed.
- Ensures that the encounters have complete and accurate diagnoses and that documentation supports the appropriate billing/coding levels.
- Ensures that all documentation enhances compliance with applicable documentation standards including Meaningful Use.
- Assists the Physician with clinical quality measures and chronic disease management documentation and process.
- Assists with a patient-centered approach to each encounter that maximizes the patient satisfaction and outcome.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Upon Hire or
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Upon Hire or
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Upon Hire or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) Upon Hire or
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Upon Hire
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Associate's Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or technical degree
- 6 months to 1 year experience and/or training
