Job Description

This position is NOT remote eligible and is in the office 5 days a week. Position can be located in either our Nashville, TN or Birmingham, AL office.

Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Data Governance Analyst to support FirstBank's enterprise data governance initiatives. This role is ideal for someone early in their data governance career who is eager to learn and grow within a collaborative and innovative environment. You'll assist in implementing data governance practices that ensure data is accurate, consistent, secure, and trusted across the organization.

This position blends business and technical responsibilities, with a focus on data stewardship, quality, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining data governance processes related to data quality, metadata, and ownership.
  • Measures and monitors data quality, designs, and executes remediation plans, maintains, and supports applicable data management standards
  • Help document data policies, standards, and procedures in collaboration with business and IT teams.
  • Support cataloging of critical data elements (CDEs) and metadata documentation.
  • Participate in tracking and resolving data issues.
  • Contribute to data quality assessments and help define rules to measure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in capturing data lineage and improving transparency.
  • Help ensure data practices align with privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Support training and communication efforts to promote data governance awareness.
  • Participate in periodic assessments to evaluate program maturity and identify improvement areas.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in data governance, data analysis, compliance, or a related area preferred
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks (e.g., DCAM) and/or data management is a plus

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of data management concepts and tools
  • Familiarity with Excel, SQL, or similar tools is helpful
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a structured data governance environment
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
