Senior Director, Procurement

We are currently seeking a Senior Procurement Director who will continue to develop and grow the sourcing and procurement team, bring in new skills and capabilities needed by the company as it scales, own the cost savings pipeline delivery, and drive the vendor and contract manufacturing strategy for our organization.   You must have a passion to work in a highly dynamic, fast growing, and entrepreneurial environment.  You will be highly self directed, ensuring the goals of the strategic sourcing team and the company are closely aligned.  This role reports directly to the VP of Supply Chain and will work closely with the Product Development team as well as Finance. 

The ideal candidate has experience in a wide range of procurement spend categories, specifically chemical direct/directed buying, rigid packaging and contract manufacturing in the consumer products industry (household, personal care and/or beauty preferred).  You must have a track record that demonstrates strong business acumen, ability to assess and mitigate risk, applying processes to solve problems, and championing of continuous improvement. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Own the procurement strategy and execution through collaboration with internal stakeholders to meet current and future operational requirements while focusing on reducing TCO (total cost of ownership) and driving value as we scale. 
  • Develop the procurement and sourcing team through coaching and professional development plans into a world class organization.
  • Build capability in direct procurement (packaging, chemicals, 3PL services, contract manufacturing and any other spend areas required, to enable growth of the business and ensure margin goals are attained/exceeded, including the direct / directed buying of chemicals from chemical suppliers as we bring formulation in-house and develop and spec our own formulas.
  • Responsible for leading the ideation and maintenance of the cost savings 3 year pipeline and annual cost savings delivery. In addition, this role charters, assembles and leads the cross functional cost savings team meetings and execution.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams such as Product Development, Planning and Quality to ensure strong execution of product development and execution.
  • Develop partnerships with existing and new vendors to ensure redundancy in supply on key components and manufacturing, and create resilience in the supply chain that can support growth, mitigate supply disruptions (ensure supply continuity) and create cost leverage
  • Monitor and analyze vendor performance metrics. Proactively build a vendor network, contract strategy and scorecard that ensures performance visibility.
  • Negotiate and maintain vendor contracts to ensure accountability in vendor performance and terms that allow business agility with protections. Drive procurement optimization initiatives, including lead time reduction, MOQ (minimum order quantities) and terms optimization, and supplier innovation development through the collaboration and contracting process
  • Monitor prices of major commodities and services from supplier, analyze impact based on annual use and report findings to organization along with mitigation and contracting strategies. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management / Business Management or other 4 Year degree with equivalent work experience.  
  • 15 years + of progressive supply chain / procurement experience, in the consumer goods industry, with proven track record of results and team development.   CPG experience in personal care space highly preferred.
  • Expertise in a broad range of procurement activities, including inventory and supply chain management, technical procurement projects including those involving close interfacing with other functions such as Product Development and quality.
  • Strong contract management and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement robust, creative commodity and specialty buy strategies which yield measurable reductions in spend
  • Ability communicate effective across multiple levels including leadership, peers and stakeholders
  • Capable of influencing and motivating others with new ideas and concepts
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office applications
  • High sense of ownership and collaboration

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Duke Cannon offers a competitive market salary and bonus based on role and professional experience. The range for this role $150,000 - $190,000.  Our benefits are top-notch and include health & dental insurance, HSA and 401k programs supported by regular company contributions, a tuition reimbursement program, and monthly parking stipend.  We also host monthly moments of Team camaraderie ranging from community service events to social hours in the Main Lodge (aka the office) to Lunch & Learns covering business, team, and industry topics.
