Job Description:
A Brief Overview
To provide high quality food service in accordance with prescribed medical nutrition therapy while meeting all food safety and sanitation codes. To assist patients in menu selections in accordance to their prescribed medical nutrition therapeutic needs.
What you will do
- Prepare and cook food items, including meats, fish, poultry, and baked goods, according to planned menus, special dietary needs, and portion requirements.
- Serve meals to facility residents, employees, or patrons, ensuring proper portioning and adherence to dietary guidelines.
- Adhere to food safety regulations for sanitation, storage, and handling, including monitoring the use of government food commodities.
- Clean, inspect, and maintain galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
- Wash and sanitize pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain records of food use, expenditures, and compliance with safety standards.
- Direct and coordinate activities of staff assisting in meal preparation and service.
- Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area, including sweeping, mopping, and waste management.
- Operate and maintain kitchen tools and equipment, including proper knife handling and care.
- Connect with the Manager daily to prepare and execute menus accurately, incorporating garnishing for customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Preferred
- Experience working with customers or previous work in a service job Preferred
- Basic math skills for problem-solving.
- Ability to read and understand work documents.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- Time management and task coordination.
- Attention to detail and ability to focus.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to identify and address potential issues.
- Manual dexterity for handling small tools and objects.
Qualifications:
Food, Beverage & Tobacco\SAFE Serve Certification required within 1 year of hire.
