Job Description

Coastal Pacific Food Distributors (CPFD) is seeking a full-time, candidate the for role of Accounting Clerk at our Stockton Corporate Offices. Under limited direction of management personnel, performs computational, accounts payable, and clerical duties related to the input and posting of payment transactions into the general ledger and the collection of outstanding invoices due to the company. Schedule: M-F, 8:00am to 4:30pm (flexible).

Rate of Pay:

  • $20.00 to $27.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 am (flexible)
  • Yearly annual increases every January

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Code and enter invoices into system based on our chart of accounts
  • Analyze cost and accuracy of invoices, match with supporting documentation, and ensure proper approvals before releasing invoices for payment
  • Work with suppliers and managers to resolve invoice problems and discrepancies
  • Organizing, filing, and storing of paperwork and files including storage boxes; other clerical tasks as assigned
  • Perform accounts payable check runs
  • Perform and follow through with freight denials
  • Duties also include assisting with period-end close financial statement processing: assist accounting department with period accrual based on days and invoices for the period; research invoices and other transactions in order to substantiate and explain costs to managers and executives
  • Assist as a backup for the accounts receivable/billing department
  • Train and be able to backup other accounts payable duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of accounts payable functions, period accruals and account reconciliation
  • Must be able to process invoices daily and follow up on approvals
  • Verbal communication skills: must be able to communicate diplomatically while assertively and deal with several calls or issues simultaneously
  • Intermediate level abilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook)
  • Education or prior experience in general ledger work and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  • Must be able to multi-task regularly and work under pressure of tight time constraints
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Job Requirements:

Education: Equivalent of the completion of the twelfth grade, supplement by course work or training in accounts payable or general accounting obtained at community college, trade or correspondence school or equivalent experience

Experience: Two years of general accounting experience

Computer Skills: Intermediate level abilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook
