Job Description

Whitley Penn, a leading CPA and Consulting firm, is looking for a Property Tax Specialist to join our team. The Property Tax Specialist will work within our mineral management team to review mineral appraisals, negotiate mineral valuations with county appraisal districts, and verify that all property tax and ad valorem taxes are paid in a timely manner.

This position is available in Dallas, Fort Worth or Houston

How Will You Make an Impact?

  • Research and organize property taxes statements and payments for mineral assets in various states
  • Analyze annual appraisal values and prepare mineral property tax protests, as needed
  • Prepare ARB hearing evidence, negotiate with appraisal districts and attend property tax hearings (virtual or in-person, if needed) on behalf of mineral owners
  • Generate reports for tax payments, due dates, and delinquencies
  • Take on other projects and assignments when needed.

How Will You Get Here?

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of property tax experience or ad valorem tax appraisal experience
  • License as a Property Tax Consultant, preferred but not required
  • Detail Oriented
  • Work independently and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Travel may be required
