Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Under close supervision and following established policies and procedures, assists in the routine functioning of the Pharmacy.
- Fills medication orders as derived from orders/labels.
- Delivers medications to the halls.
- Prepares and restocks medications for the Automated Dispensing Machines.
- Repackage bulk oral medications into unit dose packages.
- Assists in maintaining records, files and other clerical tasks.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Current licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or Student Intern with the State Board of Pharmacy at the time of appointment and continuously while in position.
- 1 to 3 months' experience in order to become familiar with the Hospital layout, its policies and procedures, and the Pharmacy routine. Prior community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to work cooperatively and communicate clearly and tactfully with staff in Pharmacy and other Hospital areas.
- Analytical abilities sufficient to collect and tabulate statistical data for various reports, as well as assist Pharmacist to assess and correct problems with ADMs in case of malfunction.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details while preparing medications, checking for outdated pharmaceuticals, returning medications to stock and preparing medication labels
- Work requires standing, walking to patient halls and other Hospital areas, lifting boxes weighing 11-20 lbs, and arranging stock on shelves (bending and reaching).
