Job Description

Grand Valley State University's Padnos College of Engineering invites applications for multiple Electrical and Computer Engineering focused visiting faculty positions. They involve teaching in support of our Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) program at undergraduate level. These positions will support the continued growth of GVSU's Electrical and Computer Engineering Programs.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Program offers BSE (ABET-accredited) and MSE degrees. The BSE programs include an extensive experiential learning component and a three-semester mandatory co-operative education experience through an alliance with local industry partners. The MSE program emphasizes professional practice as well as applied research. Our graduates are fully prepared to meet the demands of the industrial workplace or continue advanced studies.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality laboratory and project-based teaching.
  • Expertise with electronic instrumentation and proficiency in C-programming.
  • Applicants with expertise in all areas of electrical and computer engineering are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference may be given to individuals with a doctoral degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Preference may be given to individuals in the following areas: digital systems, microcontrollers, wireless communication, digital signal processing, cyber security and engineering, artificial intelligence and real-time operating systems.

Responsibilities - Essential Functions:

  • The visiting faculty is expected to teach introductory classes across the EE and CE curriculum
  • Instructors are expected to demonstrate excellent laboratory skills, manage class projects, and foster a hands-on learning environment.

Minimum Starting Salary:$60,000; Commensurate with experience

  • Limited benefits package including medical, life insurance, wellness resources and tuition waiver effective on date of hire.
