Job Description

Position Overview:

The 5th/6th Grade Math Teacher will provide high-quality math instruction that fosters a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and encourages critical thinking. This role is instrumental in preparing students for success in higher-level math courses and lifelong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging math lessons aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students requiring additional support or enrichment.
  • Develop and administer assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to students and families regularly.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, opportunity, and courage.
  • Serve as a homeroom teacher, providing social-emotional support and building a sense of community among students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices.
  • Participate in professional learning communities.
  • Write lesson plans and enter grades weekly.
  • Participate in evening events, student conferences, concerts, and other family events.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, mathematics, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • State teaching certification in mathematics (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Experience teaching middle school students, particularly in grades 5 or 6.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical pedagogy and best practices.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the school.

Compensation

60,000 - 80,0000 per year
