Job Description

The HQ Building Maintenance Custodian I shall serve and shall fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

This position performs a broad range of Custodial duties for The Navigators’ Headquarters building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Building Maintenance Custodian Level 1 Responsibilities

  • Complete Daily Custodial Duties at the International Building to include: restroom cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, shower cleaning, windows cleaning, etc.
  • Daily Cleaning of all HQ Building Restrooms
  • Monthly Deep Cleaning of all HQ Building Restrooms.
  • Daily Cleaning of all HQ Shower Facilities
  • Daily Cleaning of all HQ Kitchen and Breakrooms.
  • Regular processing of HQ linens to be laundered as needed.
  • Regular Cleaning of HQ Nursing Mother’s Room as needed.
  • Regular Cleaning of Building Services Facility Department Areas.
  • Daily Trash Collection throughout entire HQ Building as directed.
  • Daily Vacuuming as directed.
  • Cleaning of lobbies as directed.
  • Maintaining Window Washing Schedules (inside & outside) as directed.
  • Daily straightening & monthly cleaning of Conference Rooms (22) as directed.
  • Weekly cleaning of HQ Exercise Room as directed.
  • Weekly Cleaning of Stairwells as directed.
  • Dusting- dust common areas throughout building as directed.
  • Clean and Sanitize drinking fountains, doorknobs, trash and recycle cans, etc. as directed.
  • Regular emptying of Recycle Bins throughout the building as directed.
  • Other duties assigned

Additional Responsibilities

  • Pursue continued training to improve and maintain job skills.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for employees.
  • Provided good customer service by being professional, prompt, and courteous with building occupants.
  • Assist with Conference Room Setups and Breakdowns as necessary.
  • Assist with Minor Sidewalk Snow removal as necessary.
  • Assist with Building Services Sponsored Special Events.
  • Assist the Facility Department with minor tasks as necessary.
  • Assist the Mailroom Department Mail Processing as necessary.
  • Participate in development events such as Navigator on-site events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Read spiritually and culturally developmental books and literature.
  • Participate in the annual, organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR) process.
  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.
  • Submit expense report as needed due the 15th of each month.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Preferred 1 year experience in Custodial or related field.
  • Must be able to work well with others and possess good people skills.
  • Good communication, organization and planning skills required.
  • Work well in a team situation
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Can work independent of supervision
  • Quality work produced in a timely manner
  • Work well within the team, willing to share other’s workload
  • Take initiative for improvement of self and department
  • Excellent relations with customers
  • Able to represent The Navigators well to the public

Compensation Range: $15-19/hour

Hours: 32 hours/week
