Job Description
STV is seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineering Specialist (Bridge Design) to join our growing team in Franklin, TN. This is a unique opportunity to work on a wide variety of impactful transportation infrastructure projects while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. You'll be involved in the full project lifecycle—from conceptual planning through construction support—delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that enhance mobility and improve communities.
What You’ll Do:
Design and analyze bridges, walls, culverts, and related structures per AASHTO and DOT standards
Create structural plans, specs, details, and quantity takeoffs
Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction
Conduct site inspections and support structural assessments
Assist with planning, cost estimates, and feasibility studies
Collaborate with roadway, geotech, and environmental teams
Attend client meetings and design reviews
Support QA/QC through internal reviews
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (Structural/Transportation focus preferred)
Working knowledge of structural design and analysis tools (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads, Civil3D, SAP2000, LEAP, LARSA 4D)
Strong communication and time management skills
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally
Preferred:
EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months
Internship or experience in bridge design
Familiarity with DOT standards and LRFD design
Compensation Range:
