      Work Location: Hybrid (4 days on site, 1 remote; dependent on project needs)

       

      We are seeking a Temporary Program Manager (6-month contract with potential for full-time conversion) to lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives and bring structure to how we execute and oversee strategic projects across the organization. This individual will play a key role in standing up our first formal project and program management function, introducing tools, templates, and operating rhythms that drive consistency and clarity. The Program Manager will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, helping translate strategic priorities into actionable, high-impact programs. They will play a critical role in ensuring executive initiatives are executed with structure, clarity, and measurable outcomes. In addition to this, they will manage select priority projects—such as upcoming office moves and onboarding redesign.

       

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Lead planning and execution of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives across clinical and business teams
      • Introduce lightweight PMO practices including project tracking, reporting, and documentation standards
      • Partner with the COO and Director of Operations to identify project priorities and manage timelines and risks
      • Develop foundational tools and frameworks to support consistent project execution across the organization
      • Own the project management and coordination of key operational initiatives, including facility relocations
      • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline the employee onboarding experience
      • Monitor progress against project plans and prepare regular updates for executive stakeholders
      • Evaluate outcomes post-initiative and apply learnings to improve future project delivery
      • Provide structured transition support and documentation for any handoffs
      • Support additional special projects and coordination needs as assigned

       

      Required Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field
      • 4+ years of experience in program or project management, preferably in healthcare or operations-driven settings
      • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional efforts and deliver results across multiple workstreams
      • Experience introducing or supporting project management infrastructure (PMO or similar)
      • Proficient in Microsoft Project (preferred), with familiarity in other tools such as Asana or Smartsheet considered a plus

       

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • PMP, CAPM, or Lean Six Sigma certification
      • Experience with Agile or hybrid methodologies

      Pay Range: $75,000–$95,000 annually

      Physical Demands

      Physical requirements may vary slightly and should be reviewed with your manager. In general, this position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching and some sitting; ability to use full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift and move supplies. Must be able to safely ascend and descend stairs as a core part of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, when no elevator or lift is present.

       

      Work Environment

      Job required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate personal protection measures is required for every healthcare provider in these positions. Require to routinely use standard office equipment such as laptop, computer, mouse, and photocopier.

       

      About Balboa United

      Beginning in 1973, Balboa has grown from two physicians to a comprehensive nephrology team of 52 board certified physicians and 8 advanced practitioners. On January 1, 2018, Balboa Nephrology Medical Group (BNMG) launched Balboa United, a full-service medical practice management services organization. From one small office, BNMG now has 24 clinical offices throughout San Diego, Imperial, Orange and Riverside counties. In addition to office and hospital-based patient care, Balboa physicians manage the dialysis treatments of approximately 4,500 patients at 88 dialysis centers and conduct Nephrology based clinical research at 6 centers throughout Imperial and San Diego counties (California Institute of Renal Research).
