Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the departmental Director and/or Manager, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is an active member of the interdisciplinary team providing high-quality patient care. The PTA will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA must be able to collaborate with other professional disciplines as well as interact with the patient, family members, and significant others.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education:

Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

  • Experience:

Up to one year of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a hospital and/or skilled nursing facility setting preferred.

  • Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:

Requires a current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Requires a current certification in Basic Life Support.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists’ treatment plan in the acute care and/or skilled nursing facility setting. May provide treatments in additional settings including but not limited to home health at the discretion of the department Director.
  • Communicates with manager and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans. 
  • Records daily treatment notes and other required documentation timely and completely. · Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner.
  • Supervises Physical Therapy Aides in direct patient care and related activities as requested.
  • Meeting production requirements for physical therapy rendered as defined by the organization.
  • Complies with the Georgia State Physical Therapy Practice Act.
  • Assumes responsibility for safety, infection control and performance improvement as part of CRHS’s efforts to provide quality care and services. Performs all associated duties, responsibilities, and tasks.
  • Presents a professional image to CRHS’s co-workers, clinical and medical staff members, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education.
