The Oklahoma Department of Commerce is seeking to fill a Graphic Designer position. This position is a full-time position in state government. Oklahoma Department of Commerce offers a comprehensive Benefits Package, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. Basic Purpose
The Marketing & Communications division at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce drives economic growth by fostering environments and relationships through strategic communication. We partner with diverse internal teams-including the Oklahoma Film + Music Office, Aerospace & Defense, Community Development, and Main Street programs-to develop targeted marketing materials that achieve their objectives. We're seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and highly organized individual who thrives on managing multiple, simultaneous projects with varying audiences and goals. Typical Functions
Graphic Design:
- Proficient in Adobe Suite
- Develop and implement design strategies aligned with agency objectives and campaign goals
- Manage multiple, simultaneous projects working under the direction of a cross-functional team
- Design and produce a diverse range of print and digital materials, including annual reports, brochures, one-sheets, postcards, social media graphics, etc.
- Develop materials and collateral for high-profile events such as trade shows, trade missions, Ambassador receptions, industry conferences, local events, etc., including booth graphics, industry-specific collateral, posters, invitations, etc.
- Build and maintain a shared visual asset library (e.g., logos, icons, photography) to streamline requests and ensure brand consistency
- Ensure consistency with brand guidelines across all materials, brainstorming and implementing updates when necessary
- Support internal teams with templated design systems for scalable use (e.g., PowerPoint decks, branded Microsoft and Adobe templates)
- Experience with motion graphics in Adobe After Effects would be an added bonus
Project Management:
- Utilize project management system (Asana)
- Work directly with the Marketing Project Manager to develop timelines and run project approvals
- Maintain an organized workflow for concurrent projects, shifting priorities as needed to ensure timely completion
- Conduct regular reviews of completed work to inform planning for upcoming quarters
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify marketing objectives and meet deadlines
- Continuously refine workflows to enhance efficiency in managing a high volume of creative requests
- Manage print vendor relationships, understanding timelines and monitoring annual print budget, as well as monitoring proofs and quality checks
- Collaborate with various departments to design materials that support economic development, small business growth, and trade initiatives
Process Improvement:
- Research tools, software (e.g., Box, Issuu, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma), and emerging technologies like AI-driven design and project management platforms to recommend and implement process improvements
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or another relevant program. A minimum of two years of experience in graphic design. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
